Project Overview

This website documents our GEO454 research project. We focus on providing map-based guidance to help people find cooler and more shaded paths through the inner city.

Our project connects to SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, and SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities. The broader aim is to make heat risk more visible and to communicate practical options for relief.

Why This Matters

Urban heat islands are becoming a growing challenge in cities with dense infrastructure and limited greenery. Vulnerable groups such as seniors, children, and people with health conditions are especially affected during heatwaves.

By identifying shaded routes and cooler urban spaces, our project investigates how geovisualisation can support safer navigation and raise awareness of thermal stress in the inner city of Zurich.
