To show how the access to drinking water changed during time we created with QGIS choropleth maps. In Choropleth maps non-overlapping areas get assigned to different colours according to their properties (Nölldenburg, 2007). Here our properties are the different percentages in the population of a country which have access to drinking water. The blue hues represent relatively good access to water whereas the red colors represent limited access. There are also differences between the rural and urban population of a country. You can either look at only at the access of water for the rural population or you can examine the maps with an overall view. The selected maps get stored on the screen until you clear them with the corresponding button. If you wish to see a short animation you can press the play button.
