To show how the access to sanitation changed during time we created with QGIS choropleth maps. In Choropleth maps non-overlapping areas get assigned to different colours according to their properties (Nölldenburg, 2007). Here our properties are the different percentages in the population of a country which have access to sanitational facilities. The blue hues represent relatively good access whereas the red colors stand for bad access. Countries with no available data is grey. There is also a differentiation between the rural and urban population of a cuntry. You can either look at only a part of the people or you can examine the maps with an overall view. The selected maps get stored on the screen until you clear them with the corresponding button. If you whish to see a short animation you can press the play button.
