Histosol
Soils with a thick organic
A-horizon or thick organic layer on top. Most histosols
are turfs. In the case of a very thick organic layer above
carbonate rock, the soil is classified as Folic
Histosol. In this case, the organic layer shows characteristics
of acid raw humus, similar to Podzols.
