Alpine landscapes and their vegetation cover differ across the globe if one accounts for geomorphology, climate, land use and evolutionary background (e.g. plant species). However, there is a surprising similarity in plant stature (morphology), illustrating a common element of alpine life, irrespective of region and evolutionary history. This optional lesson allows the user to visit a number of alpine environments. A global "field trip" was the idea behind these pages. Keep an eye on morphological similarities ("convergences") and the re-occurrence of certain genera and families of plants.
