Goats
 

Goats were originally the main livestock animals in the Alps. They are able to use even very steep pastures. Today they are mostly restricted to steep pastures at high altitudes and their number has decreased greatly. In contrast to other livestock species they feed readily on woody plants as well as grasses and forbs.
