Lägerflur |
||
Rumex alpinus, Urtica dioica and Aconitum spp. are characteristic nitrophilous species of Lägerflur-vegetation. They are avoided by cattle and thus their primary production is "lost" from the farmer's point of view. Lägerfluren are a characteristic feature of subalpine and alpine pastures above about 1200 m in the Alps. At lower elevations, plants may be able to use high amounts of nutrients, whereas at higher altitudes plant growth and thus nutrient utilization is restricted by the abiotic environment. |
